Vernon a Nichols County Park
Nichols Park is a 22-acre neighborhood park providing a rural parking area, picnic tables, BBQ grills, playgrounds, a beach area, creek swimming, fishing, and many more possibilities for group activities - even a baseball field. The area contains a large piece of land native to elderberry shrubs which are habitats to the Elderberry Longhorn Beetle, a threatened species protected under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
With a park host residing on-site, Nichols Park offers endless space for a family picnic, a group adventure, or simply a place to swim or run around with the kids. A portion of the park houses the Will Baker Garden as a memorial to Will Baker, a longtime local resident, author, UC Davis Professor, farmer, cowboy, and poet.
